Established in 2000, Ochre Moving Pictures (OMP) is based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Ochre is part of the TisoBlackstar whose other broadcasting interests include Summit TV / Home Channel / Ignition, and other media interests include newspaper publishing (Sunday Times / Sowetan / Times / Business Day), film distribution (Times Media Films), music publishing (Gallo Music) and a range of other digital businesses.
OMP is one of South Africa’s leading producers of high-quality entertainment and educational television, with an award-winning track record. Its international accolades include a US Peabody, the Japan Prize, and recent nominations for INPUT in Seoul and Sydney.
For over a decade, OMP has produced programming across a wide range of genres: Soap Operas, Dramas, Documentaries, Lifestyle, Food, Reality series, Youth programming and Children’s television. Ochre hosts a team of talented television professionals with expertise in the genres that it serves, advertising sales team that serves its Branded Content division, and a technical team that supports its equipment rental services, post production suites and sound studios. In recent years, OMP has diversified its business to include Formats and Rights acquisition, Channel development for pay-tv, Mobile content and International series.
In addition to all South African broadcasters, we have produced film and television for BBC, Channel 4 (UK), France 2, PBS (US), NHK (Japan), Sesame Workshop (US), and the African Development Bank.
